Job: Bioinformatics Scientist

Overview

Sanegene Bio USA, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company focused on research and development of nucleic acid-based medicines. Using our proprietary platform technology, Sanegene is committed to developing RNA based therapies with the potential to treat both rare and more prevalent diseases.

We are searching for a Bioinformatics Specialist to support the computational analyses at Sanegene Bio. This position can be on-site in Boston, MA or completely remote.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform in-depth search of gene, transcript, protein, and variant data using publicly available resources at NCBI, Ensembl, and elsewhere
  • Prepare detailed reports incorporating information about alternate splice variants, alternate promoter usage, alternate polyadenylation and isoform-level gene expression in various tissues.
  • Retrieve large publicly available datasets, bulk-process, analyze and/or compute additional metrics to produce reports that meet pre-specified requirements.
  • Perform computational analyses, integration, and modeling of diverse datasets, including bulk RNA-seq, Iso-seq and single cell RNA-seq.
  • Produce visualizations in the form of genome browser tracks, graphs, figures and PowerPoint presentations to convey pertinent information and relevant conclusions.
  • Develop code that generates siRNAs meeting pre-defined set of rules and process sequence data per company specifications.
  • Process data to compute specific metrics, query and filter based on pre-defined parameters and generate plots.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology or related discipline with an excellent background knowledge of molecular biology and genomics.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a bioinformatics team.
  • Thorough knowledge of public databases and tools from NCBI, Ensembl and UCSC.
  • Proven track record of analyzing next-gen sequencing data, specifically RNA-seq data
  • Proficient in the operation and maintenance of systems running Unix/Linux.
  • Proficient in at least one scripting language, preferably Python, and performing bulk data analysis on the Unix command line.
  • Programming experience in environments such as Linux, Bioconductor, R, SQL, Perl and/or Python.

Desired

  • Knowledge of front-end development including JavaScript
  • Knowledge of creating web-apps such as using Shiny, Streamlit, etc.
  • Familiarity with AWS, GCP or other cloud environment
