Forum: Website For Other Biology Field Similar To Biostar

Since Biostars has received wide attention in bioinformatics area, is there any other similar websites existing for other biology field such as Microbiology? I have made a few tries, but I did not found similar ones.

  • Protocols Online forum - this was started as a website to share protocols, but it is currently a very active community, discussing a bit of everything in biology. There it is even a section dedicated to Microbiology.
  • Reddit - Biology - reddit is a platform to share links and news, but there are also many open discussions, and you can ask questions
  • BioSCI/BioNet newsgroup: I don't know if there are many people still lurking in Usenet these days, but basically this is one of the first online forums dedicated to biology.
  • Quora - Biology 1 (requires google/facebook authentication to enter) - I've never used Quora very much, but it seems to be a very active community
  • Molecularlab.it - this is an Italian community in which I was a moderator before coming here to Biostar. Hey, you didn't say that you wanted only English-speaking communities :-)
