There is a link to a similar guide on the FAQ page already (i.e., the ten simple rules for getting help online paper), but I had to first go to the About page, then search way down on the FAQ page to find it. On the old site, I'm pretty sure this link was visible from the "new post" page so everyone could see it before they post. I also like the How to ask questions the smart way guide that starts off with a basic checklist to consider before posting, though the guide itself is a bit verbose. In general, I think it might help to make this type of thing more visible, and it probably wouldn't hurt to have multiple links like this as long as they are helpful for everyone.
