Is it common that two publications have the same GEO accession code?

this looks like a typo and/or incorrect cross linking
the correct accession for the DroNc-seq paper is GSE104525

if they analysed the same dataset, that is possible yes.
if that is not the case there might have been an error/typo indeed.
There are 3 different platforms
and
1800+ samplesin the GEO accession you listed so it is reasonable for multiple publications to list the same accession.
