Annotating multiple sequence alignment

Does anyone know know how to use TEXshade package? Specifically, i want to just highlight some specific regions inside my alignment (exons)

I wrote something that does it with RTF eight years ago: https://github.com/asafpr/highlightMSA No idea if it still works but you might get some useful code from it
