how to make the research plan on stem cell and Myocardial infarction and genetics, great thanks !

Hi，I am new to the cardiovascular disease field, want to make some research on the disease(eg. myocardial infarction), also relate to the stem cell and sequencing technology, while how to design a project apply the funding?

I have done some search, and views says that stem cell therapy is not mature and may not bring much benefit as the cell transplant can be proliferation can be out of control. If I want to study stem cell and myocardial infarction, which direction and road should I begin, both the molecular aspect and bioinformatics aspect?
