Are "frameshift-isoforms" common?
Hi community,
I have identified a new tissue-specific isoform of a protein and have been searching for species-wide homologes/orthologes via blastn/blastp without any success. A colleague suggested to use tblastn and here, I found that a "frame-shifted" version of an established transcript variant (mRNA) of my protein is quite similar/identical.
Can you tell me, if "frame-shifted isoforms" (=isoforms, that nearly use the same set of exons, but that are composed of different amino-acids through a shift of the reading-frame) are common? Thanks for any answers!

Can you provide some more info on this? what exactly do you mean with "isoforms, that nearly use the same set of exons, but that are composed of different amino-acids through a shift of the reading-frame" ? like in exons with the same genomic coordinate set but in a different reading frame compared to another isoform?
