Hi all,

This is very strange as a request, but if someone has given me a fastq file trimmed using Trimmomatic and I wanted to recover all of the reads, would this be possible? I think they have been much too strict with the parameters and it will be a very long time before I am able to retrieve the files from them directly.

Quick answer: No, get the raw files.

The answer is no, if you only received the trimmed data file. If the trimmed reads were captured in a separate file you could always add them back to the trimmed reads.
