reason of synthesizing the second strand of cDNA

Hello everyone. I have been studying about RNA-Seq and I have been wondering why do we synthesize the second strand of cDNA just to degrade it with dUTP method and why can't we just use the first strand right away if we are sequencing only the first strand anyways? now I know it's a pretty basic question but I wasn't able to find any explanations to it online. thanks in advance
