Why we see apoptosis in differentiated/ undifferentiated cells during or after induction with chemical(s)?

Hi there

My question is about cell conversion to another cell. It is not a bioinformatic que, but I thank to everyone who could answer this que. Why we see apoptosis in differentiated/ undifferentiated cells during or after induction with chemical(s)? Is it for alteration of regulatory differentiation pathway, the role of nature of utilized material for induction, or cell culture state and so on? Could you please help me with any references?
