RepeatScout - Could not allocate space for sequence

When trying to compile a repeat library using RepeatScout via:

build_lmer_table -sequence data/genome.fa -freq masking/genome.freq

I get the following ERROR message:

"Could not allocate space for sequence"

Any suggestions on how to solve this issue?

FYI: I am using UBUNTU 16.04 in Parallels on macOS 10.13.6 and installed RepeatScout and RepeatMasker via conda install repeatmasker etc.

what is the output of (inside the virtual machine):

df -h /

And:

df -h /home
