Today is the last day for registration.

The first ever hackathon at the Wellcome Genome Campus, UK has now been announced!

What is it? Hackathon 2018 is a two-day opportunity to hack genomic and other biodata to address challenges in health and innovation. You will work in a creative and collaborative environment, gain some entrepreneurial skills, and talk to inspirational leaders working in biotech.

Registration deadline is June 19th.

Who is it for? We are looking for diverse teams of hackers with skills and backgrounds in biodata and genomics but also for those with knowledge and experience of UX, design, ethics, engineering, drug development and those who may be able to offer a patient's perspective.

Grand challenges will be set to address questions such as:

  • Everyone is encouraged to attend if you want to know:
  • How artificial intelligence can improve the use of biodata in healthcare
  • How patients can share their data to benefit society
  • How to communicate genomics to general members of the public
  • How to consider entrepreneurial career paths in health and innovation
  • You will network and collaborate with AstraZeneca, ARM, Atos, Boston Consulting Group, Medicines Discovery Catapult, Open Targets, p2i network, SIGMA and other hackathon partners.

The Hackathon challenges have been set such as our own Open Targets' challenge on "How can we predict opportunities to repurpose drugs to treat unmet patient need?".

Where is it? At the Wellcome Genome Campus, home of the Wellcome Sanger Institute, the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI), Open Targets and the BioData Innovation Centre.

When is it? 2-3 July, 2018
