We have two exciting opportunities to work in Open Targets in a startup-like environment, using a wide range of modern technologies, to continuously improve the Open Targets Platform, a genome-wide resource for target identification and validity. We work following Agile practices and you will be encouraged to take ownership of what you work on.
As a web developer, you will contribute to the development of the web frontend for the Open Targets Platform. You will:
- Design, develop and improving a robust, testable web application to facilitate target validation;
- Work with other developers in the team to ensure consistency in the web application;
- Work with scientists and UX professionals to ensure a positive user experience and an integrated display of information;
- Develop, integrate and maintain reusable data visualisation components for data display.
As a python software developer, you will be involved in running large-scale biological data analysis and integration, and developing the REST API, which powers the Open Targets Platform. You will:
- Design and implement the backend micro-services and data processing pipelines in Python on Unix-based systems,
- Maintain those services in a cloud environment (Google Cloud or AWS),
Salary and benefits
These are fixed term positions of 3 years, with monthly salaries starting at £2,552 (after tax). Monthly allowances and other benefits for EMBL-EBI staff are also available.
