What sort of data, what sort of server, and what are we considering unsafe?
Besides safety you also need to consider local security policy (on top of any HIPAA considerations that may apply, if the data is human). Some institutions prohibit use of cloud/public resources for data analysis unless there is a specific business agreement in place between the two entities. You have your location set to US so this should definitely be applicable in your case.
