I am enquiring about gemmas -widv option. I was hoping to use it to weight bulls for a gwas analysis. I was just wondering has anyone used this option and what did they base their weights on? Reliability, effective record contribution etc?

I understand that a high weight represents high residual error variance for this individual. So if weighting was based on reliabilityr, to ensure the high weight is low animals, you would substract the reliability from one hundred? Just curious if any one else has applied this weighting approach and what they have done.
