Linux Systems Administrator - Bioinformatics - Contract - Oxford

A Linux Systems Administrator with bioinformatics knowledge is required to join a growing company within the Life Science sector in Oxford. Previous experience within the Life Science industry or a background in bioinformatics is essential for this position.

Essential Skills:

  • Software installation and compilation
  • Data management
  • Maintaining AWS based cloud infrastructure (EC2, EBS, S3)
  • NFS - Setting up shares, validating permissions
  • GitLab administration
  • Specifying and provisioning services to support the Linux environment
  • Liaising with 3rd party suppliers, resolving any issues as they arise
  • Design and development of custom web frontends
  • Development of scripts to automate common tasks

Desirable skills:

  • CentOS, Ubuntu
  • Active Directory authentication, Samba, Kerberos, SSSD
  • Gnome, KDE
  • Common Linux services (DNS, web servers, SSH)
  • Ansible, Puppet
  • LAMP
