Future direction of Gene Set Enrichment Analysis

Gene Set Enrichment analysis has a quite developed method in the recent past. But existing methods can have pitfalls. I would like to research on GSEA and I need to to know what would be the future direction of this research area.

One important point is correlation between gene expression so independence assumption doesn't hold true. Some methods addressed this issue
