What are the most popular sequence alignment and sequence analysis tool/software in bioinformatics?

I want to know the tool that has the most support and is widely used.

Are there any sequence alignment tool that works with Hadoop/HDFS as well?

I know there are tools such as Bowtie, SNAP etc. but wanted to know the most popular ones.

A google search for "hadoop next generation sequencing" gave me dozens of interesting links as well.

Well, the most broadly used tool is probably blast. I suspect, however, that the question you asked is not the one you actually want to ask.
