Phylogentic analysis of Irish human rota virus isolates. Need help!

Hi,

As part of my undergraduate studies i have been given a phylogenetic project of rota virus human isolates in ireland. I am not an evolutionary biologist, and hence am not too experienced in designing a project, and hence I thought I'd run by some ideas by the fine folk here. The only limitation of this project is that it should be dry-lab (bioinformatics based). So far i have done phlyogentic trees of Ireland, comparing it UK and then comparing it to Europe. I have also done a tree to see if there is any zoonatic transmission. I'm currently using mega 7 to create the trees. Has anyone any tips where i can improve the trees or any idea what else i can do?

Hi,

I think you'll need to get public available sequence data first, so I would start by NCBI.

You could e.g., search for "rota" or more specific for "rota AND ireland" in the PopSet database. Download the data and do your stuff.

Good luck!
