Hi all,

I would like to know the difference between the Ribo-seq and RNA-seq and why Ribo-seq is not as popular as RNA-seq. I know that in both the profiling techniques we sequence the mRNA, but in Ribo-seq we sequecne the only cDNA that is actively translated.

Ribo-seq is a much more complicated experiment. Further, you won't get any non-coding species in Ribo-seq. RNAseq is cheap and easy, though I wouldn't be surprised if Ribo-seq becomes a bit more popular over time.

Thank you Mr. Ryan, But, If we want to do a gene expression analysis wouldn't it be more sensible to do a Ribo-seq rather than a RNA-seq.

If you're willing to put in the extra effort then sure.
