Meaning of BP1 and BP2 in DSSP file

Can someone explain the meaning of BP1 and BP2 in DSSP files?

In the legend of DSSP file format it is said that BP1 and BP2 columns are the first and second bridge pair candidates of the residue. What is the meaning of bridge pair candidate?
