One of the advantages of estimating LOD-scores in Linkage Analysis is that if data are available on several families, these can be added over families to obtain the total evidence for each value of theta.
I assume this is a fairly easy question and maybe someone can help me understand the maths of just adding up all the LOD-scores. Or in any case, what is the intuition behind it?
Oh, I think the answer was so simple that I missed it? Is it only because these are log likelihoods? So you can just add them up because they are on the log scale and that's how you get that joint likelihood?
