Job: Bioinformatics Software Developer, Achilles Therapeutics Ltd., London, UK

Achilles Therapeutics Ltd. is a company focused on the development of the next generation of personalised vaccines and adoptive T cell therapies to treat metastatic cancer. Originating from pioneering research at UCL, CRUK, and the Francis Crick Institute, the Company will use its ground breaking immune-oncology approach to rapidly advance therapies into the clinic.

We are seeking a Bioinformatics Software Developer to join our growing team and support the development of intelligent and automated in vitro diagnostic (IVD) software for application in oncology clinical decision making. As a Bioinformatics Software Developer, you will work closely with an academic bioinformatics team and other bioinformatics team members to design, develop, and maintain a robust software pipeline to run next generation sequencing analysis. This is a unique opportunity to apply your software development skills to the entire product development lifecycle of IVD software in a new and progressive environment. If you enjoy playing a principal role in developing innovative bioinformatics software solutions and have a desire to contribute to the development of a product which will transform clinical management of cancer, then this is the role for you.

This position requires:

  • Post-graduate qualification in bioinformatics, computational biology, or equivalent
  • Experience of software development in a life sciences commercial/industry environment
  • A thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle in a regulated environment
  • Expert knowledge of R, Perl and/or Python
  • Experience with version control systems e.g. bitbucket

In addition to the above, the following skills/experiences are desirable:

  • Practical knowledge of workflow management tools e.g. bpipe, make
  • Experience in developing formal technical specifications

Successful candidates will also possess good communication skills, a desire to work in a dynamic fast paced team environment and an ability to manage multiple, concurrent activities.
