Position Description
In this position, you will be responsible managing the curation program at QIAGEN Silicon Valley (formerly Ingenuity Systems). This program creates the scientific content manually curated from the scientific literature that supports the Ingenuity product line.
You will work with product management, software developers, ontologists, customers and your team to understand the content needs of the business and translate them into specific content development plans. You will work as a part of a cross-functional group of managers to produce high-quality products for the scientific research and clinical genetics communities.
You will manage a team of scientists with responsibility for the following functions:
- Development of protocols to standardize the work of a large curation team
- Definition of requirements for software to support the curation process
- Selection and prioritization of journals and articles for curation and scientific evaluation of 3rd party content sources
Position Requirements
Experience required:
- Managing the performance of a team including cross-functional collaboration or project management
- Building quality and consistency into the work of a scientific content development team
- Managing to ambitious deadlines and a budget in a fast-paced interdisciplinary environment
Experience preferred:
- Integrating scientific content into software applications
- Experience in developing and tracking productivity and quality metrics
Personal Requirements
Skills required:
- Content curation, scientific editing or technical writing in a biological or medical domain
- Data analysis and generation of data-driven presentations such as in Excel and Power Point
Education required:
- PhD in life-sciences, bio-informatics or related area
