Whole Exome Sequencing - Normal Human reference

I have performed whole exome sequencing on a tumor sample set, and have seen both DNA collected from the buffy coat, and peripheral mononuclear cells used as a normal tissue reference in the literature. Are there any caveats to using either tissue type to use as a reference to my whole exome seq data? Please advise. Thanks!
