BLAST database download

I am comparing web-based BLAST databases to the databases available on the FTP server. Why are certain databases only available in one, but not the other? For example, "chromosome" is not on the FTP site, and "other_genomic" is not on the web-based version.

For the overlapping ones, I can find the descriptions on the web-based BLAST. Where do I find the descriptions for the other ones?

NCBI uses internal variations on web blast that are not made available via FTP (they could potentially be derived from the databases available via FTP).

Descriptions for the blast databases are available at the FTP site are in this file: ftp://ftp.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/blast/db/README
