In the past few days, we have been in touch with many researchers that are involved in studies including data analytics (RNA-seq, CHiP-seq, Mutation Variants, etc.). The overall feeling is of frustration. Can bioinformatics be helpful even if there isn't a dedicated bioinformatician to handle all the analysis? Is that why many labs have piles of hard drives sitting somewhere in the office waiting to be analyzed.

We decided to do a research project on the status of the bioinformatics industry and tools, and have prepared a survey to help us understand how potential users view their abilities in bioinformatics as well as what they are looking for when using computational analysis for their data. The survey only takes a few minutes to complete and is entirely anonymous. We plan to share the results of the survey with the bioinformatics community and use your feedback to develop solutions to the issues that are most prevalent.

The survey can be found here. If you would like to know more about our project or connect with us here is our contact information.

Thank you, Sherry. Please let any of your contacts know about the survey, we think we will have a big enough number of responses soon, hopefully in the next couple of weeks.
