Abyss unitigs filtering

Does abyss do any kind of filtering when producing the initial unitigs?

If we have a highly heterozygous organism and a genomic locus was assembled as two contigs representing a pair of highly heterozygous alleles, will that be reflected in the unitigs?

Will I see two unitigs that should represent a single genetic loci (perhaps align well to each other with high identity)?

Or are some of these regions binned as the bubble or indel intermediate files?
