difference between clustal w (galaxy) and clustal w2 (embl)

I'm a complete newbie in bioinformatics. Can someone kindly clarify the difference between alignments generated by clustalw from galaxy and clustalw2. Even better if there is any info out there on how the alignments are calculated.

Public galaxy at Penn State is using clustalW2. Background information and publications etc are available here: http://www.clustal.org/clustal2/
