Hi all,

I want to look up for the nucleotide sequence of a certain enzyme (levansucrase for example) and I want to look it up in a certain organism (ex: enterobacter sp.)...

I'll write the steps of what I do and please correct me if I'm wrong:

  1. I log to NCBI and choose Nucleotide database
  2. I write the name of organism AND my enzyme ( ex: Enterobacter AND levansucrase)

but I find that the results are not only restricted to the organism I want, also many of the results don't have the coding sequence of the enzyme I specified in my search..

Is there a better way to find the sequences that I want in a specific organism?

Thank you

Have a look at the advanced search option. You can use something like levansucrase[Keyword] AND enterobacter[Organism], though there are no hits for that since most sequences for Enterobacter are genomic.

This is the best way to search. OP, you can find here, the list of available Entrez search fields and a brief description of each field.
