Bioinformatics Support Officer

A position is available in association with the laboratory of Prof. Adrian Bird to provide bioinformatics support for research based on high throughput DNA sequencing. The Bird laboratory is interested in the role of the epigenome in health and disease, including brain disorders. Next-generation sequencing techniques, including ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, bisulfite-seq, generate large amounts of sequence data that need managing, analysing and interpreting using state-of-the-art computational methods. The post holder will work in association with the Bird laboratory, but will also liaise closely with the Bioinformatics Core Facility of the Wellcome Centre, (headed by Dr Alastair Kerr) whose role is to provide advice, training, analysis and applications to Centre laboratories (see http://www.wcb.ed.ac.uk).

Salary Scale: The role is grade 6 and attracts an annual salary of £26,274 - £30,434 for full-time hours.

Duration: The post is funded for two years from January 2015.
