No one taught me the basics of bioinformatics. I've searched a lot. I didn't post my homework questions both in biology stack exchange or biostars forum. I'm doing my master degree this is the first time reading about bioinformatics. Actually all my questions are after researching more websites only. There are only formulas and I understood the basic concept before coming to this two forums. I couldn't understand how to understand that statistical formulas for substitution matrix by own minimal research in understanding the bioinformatics. I learned what is sequence alignment, needleman wunsch and smith waterman algorithm and basic concepts of Blast algorithm and how to align a sequence using scoring matrix and how to align using trace back method and all. Even now, I understood that how substitution matrix is used in the BLAST by my own. There's no one to teach me bioinformatics. I've to learn everything from scratch and I've to practice myself to understand all that stuff. That's why I stepped into this two forums. Because I thought I can clear my small doubts from you all. But you all discourage me. Thanks for all your valuable replies. I won't post any questions hereafter.

Hi,
Your intentions are good, but your method needs improvement. You are looking for resources to learn bioinformatics. Your professors should be best suited to help you with that - after all, they're there only to help you guys.
This is a forum where experts are investing their time so others may benefit from their in-depth knowledge and experience. Your questions may seem small to you, but the theory behind them would take the experts a lot of time to explain to you. Also, it is quite difficult for them to illustrate these basics to you over the internet. There is also the fact that there are tons of online resources that provide perspectives on each topic that you seek details on.
Simply put, your questions don't need their expertise and also unfortunately make you fall under the type of folks that use the site to seek quick answers to their homework questions.
While you individually may be an exception to the homework category, I'm afraid we do not have the time to analyze these on a case-by-case basis.
Also, if this disheartens you and you're ready to give up, maybe you should be looking at an approach/area where methods are written in stone and you don't have to seek help from the internet to work on your day-to-day tasks. Bioinformatics, unfortunately, is not such a field. Here, you need community, networking skills and patience, along with a decent understanding of math, computers and biology to grow. As you grow and establish your credibility, your voice will be better heard.
In conclusion, you're welcome to not post questions. However, we'd encourage you to learn to search better before you post here.

OP asked a bunch of questions on biology stack exchange without an iota of research. Most probably no one pays any attention to OP's questions there now. So OP has now moved to Biostars in search of homework answers. Once again, with no trace of research.
