Hi All,
I've put together a free book introducing RNA-Seq differential expression analysis. It of course overlaps significantly with other materials on the subject, but contains some additional insights based on my extensive I.T. background (I'm more computer/software engineer than bioinformatician, and got involved in bioinformatics while managing HPC clusters for a large university).
The book is especially well-suited for those with limited programming and I.T. skills, requiring only basic understanding of the Unix command-line to complete an analysis. All required software can be installed easily using dreckly (cross-platform package manager that works well on Linux and macOS) or FreeBSD ports (GhostBSD in a VM is a really easy option for Unix newbies).
It also presents a new command-line DE tool written in C, that computes exact and/or Mann-Whitney P-values, and works directly with BAM files or Kallisto output. No R scripting or other programming required.
The book can be downloaded in PDF form here:

Hope some people find it helpful. Questions and suggestions are more than welcome.
Cheers,
Jason
