Tool: I made an app that makes DNA files 40% smaller than CRAM , Spring

I've been working on this for over a year , but I am able to compress BAM , Fastq , VCF files by at least 40% of CRAM , Spring , Petagene , etc . You can do random access of any genome , lossless decoding and I wrote a command line app that gets or puts a file on the system in a short one line command

All files are stored on Google Cloud or AWS , and you can store a terabyte for free . Let me know if you have any questions

https://gene.zip

bam

I am also able to give out more free storage ( 10 Terabytes ) for feedback if you use it

Is that in your cloud space or users use their own cloud space. Not clear from the documentation. If the data needs to stay in your space then that could be a non-starter for many institutions, unless they set up business agreements with your company.

Good question . It can be in your cloud space ( it can write to any cloud storage ) . Also adding the entire app on the AWS , GCP , Azure marketplace so the data never leaves a users private network when you run it within your account.

Also adding the entire app on the AWS , GCP , Azure marketplace

So the app is free(?) but there will be a charge based on the amount of the data that is processed?

That is correct . What do you think . Open to any feedback to make it better

Feels like the easier business model would be to license the actual software given many institutions still use/prefer on-prem storage.
