If you like coding, you'll learn basics fast enough. Bioinformatics is algorithm first, coding later, or biology first coding later if you're in a different part of the spectrum. Biology domain knowledge is often more important than coding experience, although the latter helps too. A huge part of bioinformatics, more so than coding, is data management. If you can balance these skill set requirements, you'll be fine.

I work heavily on data management and coding, plus interfacing with various people with varied skill sets, so work for enough time and you'll discover your niche and be appreciated for it. I'm not good at biology whatsoever but I'm still valued for other skills. So all that matters is being good at something of value.
