Tool: Advit: An automated, cross-platform pipeline for Kraken2/Bracken classification and Krona visualization

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a project I’ve been working on called Advit.

If you do a lot of metagenomic classification, you know that while Kraken2 and Bracken are industry standards, stitching them together especially when you want to generate clean, interactive Krona plots can involve a lot of repetitive scripting.

I built Advit to automate this entire workflow. It’s designed to be cross-platform and handles everything from the initial taxonomic classification to the final visualisation.

Key Features:

Fully Automated: Takes your raw data and runs it through Kraken2 and Bracken sequentially.

Visual-Ready: Automatically generates Krona charts so you can explore your results immediately.

Cross-Platform: Should play nice with different environments (Linux/macOS).

Streamlined: Aims to reduce the manual "boilerplate" work in metagenomic analysis.

You can find the source code and documentation here: https://github.com/Ronykumawat/Advit

I’d love for the community to try it out. If you have any feedback, run into bugs, or have ideas for features you'd like to see added, please let me know here or open an issue on GitHub!

Cheers!
