How do I merge two overlapping rbcL FASTA fragments in BioEdit?

Hi everyone,

I have two FASTA files for the same sample:

rbcL1 = the first part of the gene

rbcL2 = the second part of the gene

The end of rbcL1 overlaps with the beginning of rbcL2. I want to align them correctly and combine them into one consensus/full sequence

why does it has to be via BioEdit? you could simply align them using any MSA alignment program and then extract a consensus sequence?

Also the EMBOSS package has a 'merger' function, https://www.bioinformatics.nl/cgi-bin/emboss/help/merger , worth looking into I think (for this 'simple' case)

Thank you very much for your help, I think emboss will suit my usage, I tried and it works!

and sorry for the beginner question, had a hard time at first.

you're welcome and no worries, that's what we're here for :-)
