We are MiLaboratories, the team behind the standard-setting immunogenomics software MiXCR. We are now building Platforma—a computational operating system designed to make complex biological analysis scalable, reproducible, and accessible.
We are looking for a Senior Bioinformatics Developer to join our core team in Bilbao, Spain.
The Mission
We are building the "OS for Biological Discovery." We need you to build the applications that run on it. This is a Software Engineering role rooted in science. We are looking for tool-builders—people who want to develop the infrastructure and pipelines that other scientists will rely on. The focus is on productizing algorithms, not performing analysis.
What You Will Do
Build: Develop production-grade analysis blocks and pipelines using our SDK (Python, TypeScript, Tengo).
Solve: Tackle complex problems in Antibody Discovery, from structure prediction and liabilities to large-scale NGS data processing.
Engineer: Move beyond ad-hoc scripting. You will write reusable, robust code that scales.
Who You Are
Fluent in Code: You are comfortable with Python and modern software engineering practices (version control, CI/CD, containerization). Bonus if you know TypeScript or Go.
Fluent in Biology: You understand the biology of adaptive immunity, antibody structure, and NGS data formats.
A Builder: You prefer building the tool over just analyzing the dataset.
The Offer
Comp: 90k - 120k EUR (Top-tier Industry rates).
Tax Advantage: We are located in Bizkaia (Basque Country), which has a specific tax regime (30% gross exemption + expense deductions; up to 50% in total). Note: This results in an effective tax rate of ~15-20%, providing a significantly higher net income than London or Berlin.
Equity: Significant ESOP package
Relocation: Comprehensive "Soft Landing" support (Visa sponsorship, temporary housing, school search).
Lifestyle: Live in Bilbao—a hidden gem with ocean, mountains, incredible food, and high quality of life.
How to Apply
- We don't use HR screens. You will talk directly to the team. Please email me directly at stanp (at) milaboratories (dot) com with your CV and a link to your GitHub. Mention "BioStars" in the subject line.

+1 for formatting of the post, providing all relevant information, including visa policy for international audience and useful information about work/life in area.
Is there a minimum degree/education requirement?
above seems indicative of a preference for coding expertise over biology.
