Block size of SSD file storage

Hi there,

I'm creating a virtual machine for different bioinformatic applications (de novo assembly and snp calling primarily) and have to specify a block size for 1 Tb SSD file storage. Available options are: 4 Kb (default), 8 Kb, 16 Kb, 32 Kb, 64 Kb, 128 Kb. Could you advise me, please, which value i should choose or how i can calculate it? Will the block size affect the speed of running tools?

Regards, Denis

snp assembly ssd

Sticking with default should be fine. Not likely to affect overall process. I assume the storage is also virtual i.e. not a physical drive.

Thanks a lot! The storage is virtual as well, you are right.
