Testing difference in median of clinical variabls in Rna-seq data

Hello, i am new to bionformatics, and i am trying test difference in median of clinical variables in Rna-seq data. I have downloaded Rna-seq data from TCGA STAD, normalized by edgeR, using tumor vs normal tissue for differential expression analysis, and now i have the normalized counts. Now can i just apply welchs t test for testing difference in median for sex, for exemple? Platforms like oncodb and ualcan uses welch t test for diference in mean for clinical features like sex, stage and etc, but they uses Transcripts per million instead of normalized counts, are both units correct?

clinical-features rna-seq
