I don't think the way you did this is right. All of us have had bad experiences with one company of another. If we try one company 30-50 times, I am sure many of us will come up with at least one bad experience among others that were good.

Without knowing how many times you used Novogene, the details of your problems and whether you are truly unbiased, this recommendation carries little weight to me. If you or someone else has tried the same product with multiple companies and one of them was clearly inferior to others, such observation would be very welcome in my book and it would be appreciated. I would put less stock into a random recommendation for or against a given company, especially when unsolicited.

I can confidently say that Novogene have given me the best sequencing depth out of all the companies I’ve used, their customer service team have always been more than helpful with me for my data analysis. I would use them again in a heart beat, and I’m clearly not sponsored to say this! If you have problems then try to contact someone else from novogene who can help you more than your current contact!

We've done all our sequencing with Novogene for nearly 6 years, and in that time we've done maybe 4 or 5 projects a year with them.

Has every single sample worked every time? No. Have samples failed to pass QC as degraded that were definately good when we sent them? Yes. But this has been the case with every service provider I've ever used in my career, in house and external, academic or commericial.

They are generally quicker than the in-house or academic providers I've used - it rarely takes longer than three weeks.

I've struck up a productive relationship with the sales and customer service rep that covers our university, and they've always got on to anything we need help with immediately.

And its very, very cheap. To be honest, even if the risk of failure was higher at Novogene, its so cheap that we can afford to send more samples and have some fail.

Personally, and we do a lot of sequencing, I'm very happy with what I get from Novogene.

To be fair, I have only had good experiences with Novogene, both in academia and industry. We have only used data generation services, but never analytics services.

We've been doing WES and WGS with them for over 2 years now and have not had any issues. The sequencing depth is good, though not the highest of all providers we've worked with. The value for money is great.

It would be better if you could update the post and describe some specific issues with them. I used them for about 4-5 years. Almost all standard poly-A+ bulk RNA-seq. Over the years, we mostly had minor issues—for instance, a few incidences on RINs. We had an episode where we received someone else's sequencing data. We had one major issue on some precious NHP samples and we stopped using them after the incident.

They're cheap and they're not perfect. For routine sequencing, I think they're decent. I personally would use another sequencing facility, ideally local, for very precious samples.
