Salary on appointment will be £35,333 per annum, with an annual increment up to £42,155 per annum

Do you want to use your bioinformatics skills to make a real difference in the fight against cancer? If so, then this exciting opportunity is for you.

As a Senior Research Associate in Bioinformatics in the Cancer Genetics Team at Norwich Medical School, you will be part of a collaborative team of experts working on cutting-edge research to develop new biomarkers for cancer. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, gaining experience in a variety of areas, and working with leading experts in the field.

Specific projects will include working on a Prostate Cancer UK and Movember Foundation Research Innovation Award study to validate the PUR (Prostate Urine Risk) test for prostate cancer; developing transcriptomic molecular subtypes in prostate cancer for use in the clinic; and determining whether mitochondrial DNA is a potential non-invasive biomarker for cutaneous melanoma.

In this role, you will

• Collect, manage, process and analyse ‘omics and clinical data
• Develop analytical pipelines
• Interpret the significance of results in the biological context
• Be involved in the translating results for use in the clinic

You will have a PhD (in a relevant numerical or biological discipline) or equivalent experience, with evidence for working with next generation sequencing data and/or large transcriptome datasets. You will also have strong organisational skills, a proven publication record, and the ability to interact and communicate effectively with scientists from other disciplines.
