CpG Island Related

I need help. We know that promoters mostly contain CpG island. There are CGI-containing promoters containing genes and CGI-less promoters containing genes. Is this phenomenon tissue specific? I mean if suppose gene X (suppose it is not a housekeeping gene) is CpG rich, will it be CpG rich in all tissues?

Please help me how can I get extensive information regarding this.

Thanks, and Regards Shrinka Sen PDF, UBC, Vancouver, Canada

island cpg

Sorry if I did not understand because it isn't clear to me, but are you asking if a CpG island can be highly differentially methylated across multiple tissues ?

Because (almost) all the cells in the organism have the same DNA sequence, the same number of CpG sites will be found in a gene X across all tissues: all tissues have the same sequence.

A different thing is that the same CpG sites can be methylated in a tissue while not methylated in another.
