What questions should I expect at a panel interview for a mid-level Assoc Computational Biologist position?

I'm invited for a panel interview at a Bioinformatics institute in Boston, via zoom. It's my first interview.

May I know what type of high-level and low-level questions I should expect for the interview? Would it be as intense as computer science interviews?

This is an academic position.

academia panel interview

Is this an academic or industry position?

I work in industry in Boston, so take this with a grain of salt. Generally for both academic and industry positions here they will want to know you can talk intelligently about your previous work, have some domain knowledge related to the biology the position is focused on, and that you have some sort of competency in the computer science related to the project. The interviews can range from informal - do we get along and can we work with you every day - to technical - how does this particular alignment algorithm work and what are the advantages/disadvantages of it. The takeaway point should be that no one interview will be alike, and the intensity of the interview will vary greatly, but the job description usually has good hints on what will be covered.

Good luck!
