Job Description:

Functions as a Bioinformatician and Bioinformatics software developer to perform high throughput data analysis; develops applications for data processing, transformation, analysis, and visualization using high-performance computing techniques and facilities. Creates new and implements standard quantitative/qualitative tools and analysis methods for novel sequencing data; establishes test controls, criteria, and research standards and assists in the design of research experiments; designs and maintains next-generation sequencing (NGS) data processing pipelines; provides training and collaborative support to scientific users on related software; performs other data analysis service activities; prepares research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at conferences and workshops; writes project and technical reports, articles, and other documents including sections of grant proposals; supports the collection, integration, storage, and analysis of multi-dimensional data sets resulting from public and private data sources in genomics.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in biomedical informatics, computer, and information science, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required; computer operations experience required; experience in SQL, XML/XSLT, database design and data integration, and database development (MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle) required experience in a research environment desired; experience utilizing EHR/EMR data for secondary use purposes desired; requires successful completion of a background check; the candidate may be required to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
