Forum: Which bioinformatics tool would you love to see running much faster?

As time passes by, bioinformatics analysis that we frequently run made us get used to its speed and we usually stop thinking about the possibilities of making them run faster and less expensive. I was wondering which modern bioinformatics tools or algorithms could be speeded up whether with GPU or FPGA acceleration?

Genomics experiments generate so much data that faster and smarter visualization tools are always needed. If you're looking to contribute to projects, web-based data visualization tools over the last couple years (HiGlass, GenomeSpy) take advantage of GPU acceleration via WebGL and related APIs and libraries.
