What does "viewpoint" mean?

I'm reading through this paper, and they keep talking about "viewpoints". The term doesn't seem to be defined anywhere in the paper, so I'm assuming it's a broader used term... but I'm having a hard time figuring out what it means in the specific genomics/bioinformatics/etc context. Any knowledge on its meaning here?

It is the part of the genome that you design your primer(s) against in C-experiments, so the "known" part. The NGS then tells you the interaction partners. That is pretty common knowledge in the chromosomal capture field, you should therefore read up on the principle of 3/4C.

edit: although from your explanation the concept makes sense... I just am struggling to find this word "viewpoint" explained

It is more of a metaphor, it is the place where you go "stand" in your genome and "look around" to find which parts are nearby.

No, unfortunately not. I guess someone used it in the early days of the C technology and people took it over.

Is the word "bait" related to viewpoint? From my understanding, it is something which identifies a target, but wondering if there is a connection here I am unaware of
