I have to give a basic presentation about Affymetrix technology as part of a course in Sao Paolo.

I usually focus more on the actual analysis but in this case I need to show how the technology affects the analysis that needs to be done.

Things that come to mind are:

• the Lithographic production technology (I found some nice movies but they are on Youtube)
• the labeling and amplification methods (which are not always linear and thus need to be taken into account)
• the distribution of the probesets over the target sequence (which can be quite different for different probesets and array generations)
• the influence of CG content (which I can probably show best from an actual image with high CG lines, but people might have nicer ways to show that)
• the use of alternative (custom) cdf's for annotation and the influence that has on probeset size
• the relation between memorability and expression (classic present call distribution can show this nicely)
• other things that I did not think about

I am looking for slides/images and maybe movies that would introduce these things nicely for people that do not have a lot of experience using Affymetrix technology.

I did already find some things in Google images, slideshare and figshare. Also found some movies (especially about lithophotographic production) but none that I could easily download without breaching copyright.

I have created two presentations. The first was mainly based on slides I received from Chao Quang-Lai from Tufts (through Larry Parnell) while the second about the newer Exons and ST-Gene arrays was based on slides I received from Ruby Gabelrab from Affymetrix.
