What is the difference between Restriction site Associated DNA sequencing and Genotyping by sequencing methods ?

That is an interesting question. I think there is no general consenus about the definition of GBS, yet.

In this paper the authors state:

[..] genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS) approaches that allow a targeted fraction of the genome (a reduced representation library) to be sequenced with next-generation technology rather than the entire genome, even in species with little or no previous genomic information and large genomes. The subset of the genome to be sequenced in these GBS approaches may be targeted using restriction enzymes or capture probes or by sequencing the transcriptome

So that would mean that RAD is a specific form of GBS (one that uses restriction enzymes). But I think there are also people how have a very specific protocol in mind when they say GBS.

I read some where that GBS involves shot-gun approach due to that there is more missing data than RAD. That made me wonder whether they are two methods.

Ultimately the difference is just adding the CFO primers with the barcode adaptors..??
