Ideas For A Master Project On Malaria Evolution

Hello Community, first a few word about me: I have worked in the field of Cancer genomics and performed NGS and GE analysis and I applied machine leraning techniques too. Now I will start my master thesis and I want to gain experience in the field of evolutional genomics. I am highly interested in the field of malaria parasit evolution / malaria parasite-host interaction / GWAS of genetic resistance to malaria. The genomes of 10 plasmodiums are available as well as the genome of the vector anopheles gambiae. My first idea for a project was to interfere known SNP mutation with geographical features like the expansion of the malaria parasite. But I dont find informations about country specific SNPs. Now I hope that a expert in this field can give me a tipps for finding a exciting master project.

Thank you!

Literature searches and months of hard work are required to come up with a thesis question. Simply asking for tips will not result in what you want. I closed this question since there is no direct bioinformatic question. Feel free to reopen.

Post closing needs to be reserved to questions that are off topic, gross duplicates, already answered etc.

These should not be used as a tool to indicate that the question is too generic. It is should be sufficient to comment to that end. Post closing also prevents someone else from answering the question. It also discourages the user from editing and improving their question.

munch is a user that joined a few hours ago, having their first valid question closed is a very unwelcoming and is not a good way to help the site grow. The user has now deleted the question and will probably never return. Is it really worth it?

Point taken. I won't do it in the future.
